Dear Readers,

Welcome to the first edition of the 2011 newsletter from Cherry Hill.

We would like to begin with wishing you and your families a very happy and prosperous 2011. There has been much talk on the economy showing signs of improvement against the rising price indexes. While the two are very closely related, there always seems a surprise, which the market offers on a continual basis. We at Cherry Hill welcome many such surprises, which enable us to be fast footed with our ready-to-go attitude.

One such effort of ours was to go in for ISO certifications. We are the first in our industry to have ISO 9000, 14000 and 18000 certifications. In this newsletter we wish to bring to your knowledge some insight into ISO and highlight advantages of these certifications for one and all.

In addition to the ISO, we have some interesting read on some business etiquettes in various countries across the globe – for our well-traveled fraternity. In the year gone by we have completed many a projects with INITTO being one. We have featured this project in this newsletter. Humor always finds its place in all seriousness.

We hope you enjoy reading this. All the same we welcome any suggestions or feedback if any on this newsletter so that we can improve. After all to quote Benjamin Franklin – ‘Without continual growth and progress, such words as improvement, achievement, and success have no meaning.’

Happy Reading and Best Wishes,

Rajiv Mohan

Main Article -ISO & International Standard
ISO (International Organization for Standardization) is the world's largest developer and publisher of International Standards.

ISO is a network of the national standards institutes of 163 countries, one member per country, with a Central Secretariat in Geneva, Switzerland, that coordinates the system.

ISO is a non-governmental organization that forms a bridge between the public and private sectors. On the one hand, many of its member institutes are part of the governmental structure of their countries, or are mandated by their government. On the other hand, other members have their roots uniquely in the private sector, having been set up by national partnerships of industry associations.

Therefore, ISO enables a consensus to be reached on solutions that meet both the requirements of business and the broader needs of society.

In 1946, delegates from 25 countries met in London and decided to create a new international organization, of which the object would be "to facilitate the international coordination and unification of industrial standards". The new organization, ISO, officially began operations on 23 February 1947, in Geneva, Switzerland.
